XRP Ledger MCP server

by RomThpt

Lets your AI look up XRP Ledger accounts, balances, NFTs and send XRP or tokens for you.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to the XRP Ledger, the public network behind the cryptocurrency XRP. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in normal words to check a wallet balance, look up a transaction, or send XRP, and it will do it for you. It is handy for anyone curious about crypto who does not want to learn a wallet app or a block explorer by hand.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, in this case a connection to the XRP Ledger. When you ask something like what is the balance of this address, your AI passes the question to this helper, the helper talks to the XRP Ledger network, and the answer comes back into your chat. You do not need to understand how it works under the hood, you just talk to your AI like usual.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about the XRP Ledger, for example to check an account or look up a transaction. The AI sends that request to this helper program. The helper connects to the XRP Ledger network you picked, MainNet for real money, TestNet or DevNet for practice, and fetches or sends what you asked for. The result comes back into your chat as a clear answer. If you asked it to send XRP or a token, the helper signs the transaction with your wallet seed and submits it to the network.

What you can do with it

  • Check the XRP balance of any wallet address
  • Look up details of a past transaction by its ID
  • Get information about an account, like its settings and properties
  • Send XRP or issued tokens from your wallet to another address
  • Look up an NFT, check who owns it, or mint a new one
  • Create and manage trustlines, escrows, checks and payment channels
  • Create or resolve a decentralized identifier (DID) on the ledger

Try asking your AI

  • “What is the XRP balance of address rN7n7otQDd6FczFgLdSqtcsAUxDkw6fzRH on testnet?”
  • “Show me the details of transaction 4A1B2C3D on mainnet”
  • “Send 10 XRP from my wallet to rPT1Sjq2YGrBMTttX4GZHjKu9dyfzbpAYe on testnet”
  • “Look up the NFT with this token ID and tell me who owns it”

What it gives back to you

It gives back plain answers in your chat: balances, account details, transaction summaries, token information, NFT ownership, and confirmation when it has sent a payment. For example, if you ask for a balance, you get the number and the currency back as a short reply. If you send XRP, you get a confirmation with the transaction result. You do not get raw code or files, just readable text.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js version 18 or newer installed on your computer
  • The project downloaded from GitHub and built once with npm
  • An XRP wallet seed if you want it to send payments or change things (a seed is the secret key to your wallet, keep it safe)
  • A choice of network: mainnet for real XRP, testnet or devnet for practice

Good to know

This server can move real money and change or delete things on the XRP Ledger when you give it your wallet seed, so test on testnet first and never share your seed with anyone.
