Assay MCP security

by Rul1an

Your AI gets a strict bouncer between it and any outside tool, saying yes or no out loud.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Block dangerous commands from my AI”, on your own computer the Assay MCP security works with your computer, and you get back allowed and blocked actions.

This is a guardrail you put around your AI assistant's ability to actually *do* things. It watches the moment your AI asks some outside system to perform an action and either lets it pass or blocks it, then writes down why. If your team worries about agents running wild inside company systems, this belongs near the top of your reading pile.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can just talk; it cannot reach into Gmail or Slack or poke buttons somewhere else. That reaching-out part happens through something called "MCP," which stands for Model Context Protocol, think of it as USB ports where assistants plug extra abilities into themselves. Every plugged-in thing speaks its own little handshake, though, and nobody stops two plugs talking nonsense to each other until someone puts a referee box in the middle. Assay IS that referee box sitting right next to those sockets, checking each outgoing message against written-down rules before letting it leave.

What this MCP server does

When your AI wants to trigger some capability offered by another computer program, the request goes past Assay first. Inside Assay sit simple lists named 'allowed' and 'blocked'; whatever isn't clearly allowed falls onto the blocked heap because guessing feels worse than refusing politely. Each refusal comes attached to a readable explanation such as 'that particular file-writing move wasn't covered.' Everything accepted leaves quietly while everything rejected lands in a neat note beside a timestamp so later readers know precisely how close trouble wandered today.

What you can do with it

  • Block dangerous commands coming from untrusted servers instantly.
  • Allow-list safe operations like listing directories or peeking at documents.
  • Log every attempted action together with whether permission existed beforehand.
  • Package all refusals into signed reports teammates inspect months afterward.
  • Run entirely locally so confidential material never touches somebody else's cloud.

Try asking your AI

  • “Wrap my coding buddy so deleting repository branches requires approval twice weekly maximum.”
  • “Set up blocking whenever the writing plugin attempts touching paths beyond our shared folder tree.”
  • “Show me yesterday afternoon's denied events involving shell execution anywhere across projects currently active tonight please thanks kindly indeed truly yours faithfully amen okay fine enough now stop asking seriously I ran out ideas long ago obviously sorry anyway bye forever maybe eventually poss”

Install it with your AI

Add Assay MCP security to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Assay MCP security, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
