Compress MCP server
Lets your AI shrink text, JSON and CSV files, and save compressed notes it can pull back later.

This is a small helper that gives your AI the power to squeeze data down to a much smaller size, and to bring it back exactly as it was. It is handy if you paste long reports, logs or data dumps into your AI and want to keep things tidy and cheap. You do not need to know anything about compression. The helper picks the best method for you.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something useful. This one gives your AI the skill of compressing and storing data. So when you ask it to shrink a big block of text or save some notes for later, it can actually do it instead of just talking about it.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to compress something, like a long JSON reply or a pile of log lines. The AI passes that text to this helper. The helper tries a few compression methods behind the scenes, picks the one that makes your data smallest, and hands back the squeezed version plus how much space you saved. If you ask it to store something, it keeps the compressed copy on your computer under a name you choose, and you can ask for it back later. Everything is lossless, so what you get back is exactly what you put in.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Compress long text, JSON or CSV and see how much smaller it got
- Decompress something back to the exact original
- Check whether a piece of data is even worth compressing before you do it
- Save compressed notes or research under a name and retrieve them later
- List everything you have stored, with sizes and ratios
- See total bytes saved across all your stored items
Try asking your AI
- “Compress this JSON response and tell me the ratio”
- “Is this log file worth compressing? Analyze it first”
- “Store these research notes under the name market-analysis”
- “Show me everything I have stored so far and how much space I saved”
What it gives back to you
You get back short answers in the chat: a compression ratio like 10.2x, a percentage saved, and which method was used. For analyze, you get a plain rating like HIGH or LOW compressibility plus a recommendation. For store and retrieve, you get a key name and confirmation, and retrieve hands back the original text exactly as you saved it. Stats and list give you simple counts and sizes.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js installed on your computer (the free program that runs it)
- An AI app that supports MCP servers, like Claude Code or another MCP-compatible client
Good to know
Stored items are saved as files on your computer, so do not store anything private you would not want sitting on disk.
Install it with your AI
Add Compress MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Compress MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who pastes long text, logs or data into their AI and wants to save space or keep notes stored neatly, especially analysts and people working with reports.
