Garmin Connect Workouts MCP server
by slaat
Turn plain English workout descriptions into structured Garmin Connect workouts in your account.

This is a small helper that lets your AI build real workouts inside your Garmin Connect account. You describe a session in everyday words, and the helper turns it into a proper step by step workout with targets and repeats. It is handy if you plan runs, rides or swims and would rather type a sentence than click through a workout builder.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Garmin Connect, so when you ask for a workout, the AI can actually create it in your account instead of just writing it out as text. You stay in charge: the AI only does this when you ask.
What this MCP server does
You describe the workout you want in plain words, like a warmup, some intervals and a cooldown. Your AI reads that and builds a structured version with each step, its duration and its target. This helper then sends that structure to Garmin Connect and creates the workout in your account. You can also ask it to list what you already have, fetch one workout's full details, change one, delete one, or put one on your Garmin calendar for a certain date. The helper never guesses from free text on its own; every duration and target is a clear field with a unit, so nothing like 10 min gets misread.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Create a structured workout in Garmin Connect from a plain English description
- Add pace, heart rate zone, bpm, power or cadence targets to each step
- Build real repeat blocks, so 5x1km shows up as one rep group on your watch
- Make swim workouts with strokes, equipment and a pool length in meters or yards
- List the workouts already in your Garmin Connect account
- Fetch the full structure of one workout
- Update or delete an existing workout
- Schedule a workout onto your Garmin Connect calendar for a date
Try asking your AI
- “Create a 30 minute easy run in zone 2”
- “10 min warmup zone 3, then 5x1km threshold intervals at 4:00/km with 2 min rest between, then 10 min cooldown zone 2”
- “8x400m at 5k pace with 60 second recovery, then check what workouts I already have scheduled this week”
- “Update workout 123456 to add a 5 minute cooldown, then schedule it for next Monday”
- “Create a 25m pool swim: 200m warmup any stroke, 4x100m freestyle with 30s rest using a kickboard, 100m breaststroke cooldown”
What it gives back to you
You get a short confirmation in the chat that the workout was created, changed, deleted or scheduled, usually with the workout's name and id. When you ask for a list, you get the workouts in your account. When you ask for one workout, you get its full step by step structure back as text. If your Garmin session has expired, the helper tells you and asks you to log in again.
