Flow diagram: you ask your AI “What can I cook with courgettes and feta?”, the Ptitchef MCP server connects it to Ptitchef, and you get back recipes in your chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI chat to Ptitchef, a French cooking site where home cooks share their recipes. You can ask for recipes by dish or by ingredient, read one in full, and adjust the amounts to the number of people you are cooking for. It is handy if you like cooking, plan meals, or want ideas from what is already in your fridge.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or website. This one connects your AI to Ptitchef, so it can look up recipes, ingredients, ratings and translations there for you. You just ask in normal words, and the helper does the looking.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like what can I cook with courgettes and feta. The AI passes your question to this helper, which searches Ptitchef for matching recipes. The helper brings back a list with titles, links, ratings and pictures. If you pick one, the helper reads the full recipe, including ingredients, steps, times, cost and nutrition, and can rescale the amounts to the number of servings you want. Then your AI shows you the answer in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • Search recipes by dish or by ingredient
  • Browse Ptitchef's ingredient category tree
  • See the latest, top rated or most viewed recipes
  • Find recipes from ingredients you already have
  • Read one recipe with its ingredients, steps, times and cost
  • Rescale ingredient amounts to a different number of servings
  • Check which other languages a recipe was published in

Try asking your AI

  • “What can I cook with courgettes, feta and mint?”
  • “Read me that gratin recipe for eight people.”
  • “Show me the highest rated recipes on Ptitchef.”
  • “Is that recipe published in Spanish too?”

What it gives back to you

You get back lists of recipes with titles, links, ratings and sometimes pictures, or the full text of one recipe with its ingredients and steps. When you ask for a different number of servings, the ingredient amounts come back recalculated, and the answer tells you when a quantity was rounded. Everything appears in the chat as normal text you can read and copy.

Before you start

What you need

  • A chat client that supports MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor
  • Node.js 24 or later if you install it with npx

Good to know

The rescaled quantities are this server's own arithmetic, so they may differ slightly from the original recipe, and rounded amounts are marked as such.
