ContextFetch MCP server
by lachy3433 · official
Let your AI search the web and read pages as clean text, with answers backed by real sources.
ContextFetch is a helper that lets your AI search the web and read web pages for you. Instead of guessing, it pulls the parts of pages that actually matter and hands them back as tidy text. It is handy for anyone who asks their AI to look things up, compare tools, or gather facts from the internet.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to ContextFetch, a web search and page reading service. Once it is connected, your AI can look things up online and bring back real sources when you ask.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question that needs the web, like a fact check or a comparison. Your AI sends that request to the ContextFetch helper. The helper searches the web or opens the pages you pointed at, then trims them down to just the parts that match your question. It sends those parts back as clean text, and your AI uses them to answer you. You see the answer in your chat, often with numbered sources you can check.
What you can do with it
- Search the web and get only the passages that match your question
- Turn any public web page into clean, readable text
- Find pages similar to one you already like
- Run a small research job that gathers evidence from several angles
- Get a short answer quoted from real pages, with sources
- Crawl a website and read its pages as text
- List all the links on a site without opening each page
Try asking your AI
- “Search the web for the latest rules on remote work expenses in the UK and show me the relevant passages”
- “Read this page and give me just the parts about pricing: https://example.com/plans”
- “Find me pages similar to this one about project management tools”
- “Research the pros and cons of switching our team to a four-day week, with sources”
What it gives back to you
You get back plain text in your chat. Search results come as a list of titles, links, and the exact passages that matched your question. Research and answer requests come as a short evidence pack with numbered sources you can click. Sometimes a small note at the end tells you how many free searches are left or how long it took.
