This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Dumpling AI, an online service that collects and converts content from the web. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to pull a YouTube transcript, read a web page, or turn a PDF into plain text, and it will go and fetch it for you. It is handy for anyone who spends time copying things off the internet into their notes or reports.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, like a plug that connects it to another service. This one plugs your AI into Dumpling AI, so it can go out to the web, fetch pages, read documents, and bring the results back into your chat. You just ask in normal words, and the AI uses this helper behind the scenes.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like "what does this video say" or "summarise this page". Your AI then calls this helper, which passes your request to Dumpling AI. Dumpling AI goes to the website or file, pulls out the text, transcript, or data, and sends it back. Your AI then reads that and gives you a tidy answer in the chat. You never have to copy and paste anything yourself.

What you can do with it

  • Pull the transcript from a YouTube video
  • Search Google and read the top results for you
  • Scrape a web page and turn it into clean text
  • Take a screenshot of a web page
  • Convert a PDF or Word file into plain text
  • Extract text from an image or audio file
  • Run a small piece of JavaScript or Python code

Try asking your AI

  • “Get me the transcript of this YouTube video and summarise the main points”
  • “Search for recent news about electric cars and give me the highlights”
  • “Scrape this web page and list every product with its price”
  • “Read this PDF and tell me what it says about refunds”

What it gives back to you

You get the result back as text in your chat: a transcript, a summary, a list of products with prices, the plain text of a document, or a short answer. If you asked for a screenshot or a generated image, you get a link to the file. If you asked it to run code, you see the output printed out. It all shows up like a normal reply from your AI.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Dumpling AI account
  • A Dumpling AI API key (a kind of password for apps; you get it from your Dumpling AI account page)
  • Node.js installed on your computer if you run it yourself
  • The Claude desktop app or Cursor if you want the easy setup

Good to know

It uses your Dumpling AI account and API key, and some actions like scraping, image generation, or running code may use up your plan credits or cost money, so keep an eye on your usage.
