Recipes MCP server
by smeet666
Search, read, compare and rescale recipes from six cooking sites in French, English and Spanish, all from one chat.

This is a small helper that lets your AI look up recipes on six cooking websites at once, including Marmiton and the Wikibooks Cookbook. It is handy if you cook, plan meals, or keep bumping into recipes written in another language or for a different number of people. You ask in plain words, and it brings back the recipes in one tidy shape.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to six recipe sites, so it can search them, read a recipe, and do the maths on the quantities for you. You do not need an account or a key for any of it.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like find me carbonara recipes. The AI passes that question to this helper. The helper searches all six sites at once and hands back a list of matching recipes with their titles, links and a short excerpt. You then pick one, and the AI can read it in full, compare it with versions from other sites, or rescale the ingredient list to the number of people you are cooking for.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search six recipe sites with one question
- Read any recipe in one consistent format
- Compare French, English and Spanish versions of the same dish
- Rescale an ingredient list to a different number of servings
- See which version uses a particular ingredient, like cream
- Scale a list from your own notebook
- Tell you when a site failed instead of quietly returning nothing
Try asking your AI
- “Find me carbonara recipes, from wherever you can.”
- “Compare the French and English versions of that dish.”
- “Read the second one for eight people.”
- “Which of them uses cream?”
- “Scale this list from my notebook by 1.5.”
What it gives back to you
You get back lists of recipes with their titles, links, images and short excerpts. When you read one, you get the ingredients and steps in a single consistent shape, whichever site it came from. If you asked to rescale, the quantities come back adjusted, with a note when something could not be divided neatly. Each answer also tells you which sites answered and which failed.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 24 or later (or Docker, if you prefer the Docker route)
- An MCP client that supports servers, like Claude Desktop or Claude Code
- No account and no API key
Good to know
The rescaled quantities are this server's own arithmetic, so mention they were recomputed when you show them, and note that some ingredients like eggs cannot be divided neatly and get rounded.
Install it with your AI
Add Recipes MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Recipes MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
