SocialAPIs MCP server
by SocialAPIsHub · official
Lets your AI look up public Facebook and Instagram data, like pages, posts, comments and ads.
This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to public Facebook and Instagram information. Once it is set up, you can just ask in plain words and your AI will go and fetch the details for you. It is handy for anyone who checks social media pages, posts or ads as part of their work.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to SocialAPIs, which gathers public Facebook and Instagram data. So when you ask about a page or a post, your AI can actually go and look it up instead of guessing.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about Facebook or Instagram, like how many followers a page has or what people are saying in the comments. Your AI passes that request to this helper, which talks to the SocialAPIs service. The service pulls the public data and sends it back. Your AI then turns it into a clear answer in your chat, and it also shows how many credits the lookup used.
What you can do with it
- Look up a Facebook page's follower count, contact info and category
- Fetch the latest posts, videos, reels or albums from a page or group
- Read the comments and replies on a specific post
- Search Facebook for pages, people, posts, videos or locations
- Browse Meta ads by keyword, page or country in the Ads Library
- Search Facebook Marketplace listings with price and location filters
- Check Instagram profiles, posts, reels, highlights and nearby places
Try asking your AI
- “What's Nike's follower count on Facebook?”
- “Get the latest 9 posts from facebook.com/EngenSA”
- “Show me the Meta ads currently running for Apple Vision Pro in Germany”
- “What are people saying in the comments on Coca-Cola's last 3 posts?”
What it gives back to you
You get back plain answers in your chat, like a follower count, a list of posts with their reactions and comments, or a set of matching ads. Each result also comes with the number of credits it used and how many you have left. For bigger questions, your AI may combine several lookups and summarize them for you.
Before you start
What you need
- A SocialAPIs account and API key (sign up at socialapis.io, then copy the key from your dashboard)
- The Claude desktop app or another AI tool that supports MCP servers
- For the local option: Node.js installed on your computer
Good to know
Each lookup uses credits from your SocialAPIs plan, and bigger questions that need many lookups can use more, so keep an eye on your credit balance.
