InfraNode MCP server
by street1983nk
Lets your AI look up German city data like weather, air quality, transit and parking for you.

InfraNode is a free online service that gathers public data about German cities in one place. It covers things like weather, air quality, buses and trains, traffic, parking and roadworks for more than 80 cities. This page is about using it through an MCP server, which lets your AI assistant fetch that data for you when you ask.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to InfraNode, which collects open data about German cities. So when you ask about the weather in Cologne or the next train in Berlin, your AI can go and look it up instead of guessing.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about a German city, like the weather or the next departures. Your AI sends that request to the InfraNode helper. The helper fetches the data from public sources such as the German weather service or local transit feeds. InfraNode tidies everything into one simple format and sends it back. Your AI then turns that into a normal answer for you in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check current weather and official weather warnings for a German city
- Look up live air quality readings from the environment agency
- See real-time bus and train departures with delays for a stop
- Find parking spots and charging stations for electric cars
- Check current fuel prices near a city
- Look up roadworks and traffic events
- Compare a data point like air quality across several cities
Try asking your AI
- “What is the weather like in Cologne right now?”
- “Are there any official weather warnings for Munich today?”
- “When do the next trains leave from Berlin Hauptbahnhof?”
- “How is the air quality in Hamburg compared to Stuttgart?”
What it gives back to you
You get back a normal chat answer built from the data, like a short weather summary or a list of upcoming departures. Behind the scenes the data comes as a tidy block with the numbers, the source and the time it was measured. If a source is temporarily down, the answer will say so instead of failing. You can ask follow-up questions and your AI will fetch fresh data again.
Before you start
Good to know
It only reads public data and cannot change anything, so it is safe to use, but the data comes from outside sources and may occasionally be out of date.
Install it with your AI
Add InfraNode MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check InfraNode MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
