GoldBean is a small online service that hands out crypto and market data, like Bitcoin and Ethereum prices, gas fees and market sentiment. It is meant for people who want their AI assistant to look up this kind of information for them. It is handy if you follow crypto prices or work with anything blockchain related.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to GoldBean, a service that looks up live crypto prices and market data. Once it is connected, you can just ask your AI for a price and it will go get it for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like the current Bitcoin price. The AI sends that request to the GoldBean helper, which talks to GoldBean's website. GoldBean looks up the number from its data sources and sends it back. Your AI then shows you the answer right in the chat. Some lookups cost a small amount of crypto (about two cents) and are paid automatically from a wallet you set up.

- A crypto wallet that can pay small amounts in USDC on the Base network
- Some USDC on Base to cover the paid lookups (about two cents each)
- An AI app that supports MCP servers, like Claude Desktop, Cursor or Cline
