MongoDB announced production-ready features for running AI agents at scale, consolidating tools that enterprises previously assembled from multiple vendors. The updates, revealed at MongoDB.local London 2026, include automated embeddings generation, persistent agent memory, and performance improvements across read and write operations.
The core problem MongoDB is addressing: enterprises building AI agents must stitch together separate systems for data retrieval, memory management, vector search, and embeddings-a process that introduces complexity and failure points at scale.
Retrieval and Memory
Automated Voyage AI Embeddings, now in public preview, generates vector embeddings automatically as data enters the database. This removes manual infrastructure work that previously consumed weeks of development time.
Voyage AI's embedding models rank first on the Retrieval Embedding Benchmark, meaning agents retrieve more relevant context for their queries. The LangGraph.js Long-Term Memory Store, now generally available, gives JavaScript and TypeScript developers persistent memory across conversations-a feature Python developers already had through MongoDB Atlas.

Performance at Scale
MongoDB 8.3, available immediately, delivers measurable improvements: 45% more reads, 35% more writes, 15% more ACID transactions, and 30% more complex operations compared to version 8.0-without requiring application code changes.
Enterprises like Adobe running AI workloads need sub-100 millisecond retrieval times and sub-second context updates. MongoDB Atlas is designed for these requirements.

Deployment Flexibility
