Creatives Report AI Is Now Essential to Their Work

Creative professionals are using AI tools on more than 40 percent of their projects, according to a survey of over 400 creatives completed by Adobe and research firm Advanis. Nearly 9 in 10 say generative AI has made their work better.

The adoption is no longer experimental. Creatives are building AI into their standard workflows, spending at least half their work week with these tools.

Speed is the primary advantage

Ninety-four percent of respondents said they produce content more quickly with AI. The majority report becoming at least 50 percent faster, saving an average of 17 hours per week.

An animation professional said: "My overall work quality and the depth of my illustrations have skyrocketed since AI." A UI/UX design manager added that AI "helped me think of other creative ways to display information I might otherwise not consider."

This speed matters because demand for content has doubled over the last two years. More than 8 in 10 marketers update campaigns weekly, and more than a third update daily.

Getting better results takes practice

Nearly 9 in 10 creatives said they now find it easier to get the results they want from AI tools. They credit two factors: the tools themselves improving, and their own growing skill with them.

Longer, more detailed prompts produce better outputs. Over the past year, the average prompt length has increased, and so have successful downloads of the generated work.

Nine out of 10 creatives use more than one AI model per asset. Half say they choose specific models for specific tasks. Nearly half compare outputs from different models to find the best result for their project.

Concerns remain about control and workload

Eighty-four percent worry about maintaining brand continuity. Seventy-seven percent have concerns about commercial safety. Sixty-four percent fear that AI will lead to homogenized creative output.

Nearly 3 in 4 respondents are concerned their bosses and clients will expect them to produce impossible volumes of content, even with AI's efficiency gains.

However, some initial fears have faded. Forty-six percent said job opportunities have increased, compared to 30 percent who said they declined.

Beyond efficiency

Some creatives describe benefits beyond speed. A video, audio, and animation professional said: "GenAI has significantly improved what is possible - imagining unbelievable things." A graphic designer and illustrator said: "It has just opened a creative window for me."
