AI agent for construction estimators
Construction Drawing Dimension Conflict Agent
Resolve every dimension conflict before material is ordered or cut.
What it does
A wall is 3,600 on the plan and 3,650 in the section, and nobody notices until the material is cut. This agent reads dimensions across plan, section, elevation and detail sheets, and compares the same feature wherever it appears. It flags conflicts, missing dimensions and sums that do not add up. It drafts a clarification list for the designer with sheet references. It tracks each answer. When revised drawings come in, it rechecks the answered items and looks for new conflicts. You approve the question list before it goes out. Edge case: the overall dimension string is 20 mm short of the sum of the segments, and the agent lists both numbers.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Drawing set or revision is received
- Read dimensions from plans, sections, elevations and details
- Match each feature across sheets
- Check that segments add up to overall dimensions
- Do all dimensions agree and add up?If not: List each conflict with sheet references and values. Back to step 4.
- Draft a clarification question for each conflict
- Lead approves the question listThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Send the questions and log the answers
- Recheck answered items and scan for new conflicts
- Are all items closed and no new conflicts found? If not: Keep open items and send a reminder. Back to step 6.
- Dimension clarification log
How it decides
It compares each feature at every place it appears and checks that dimension strings sum to the overall. A conflict stays open until a revised sheet shows one value.
- A difference over 5 mm is a conflict (default)
- Dimension strings must sum to the overall
- Closed only when a revised drawing shows one value
- Material orders on a conflicting item are held
Make it yours
Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.
- Conflict threshold (default 5 mm)
- Sheets included
- Designer contact
- Reminder wait (default 3 days)
- Which orders are held
What keeps you in control
It always asks you first
- The question list before sending
- Any decision to proceed on an assumption
Hard limits
- Never decides the correct dimension
- Never sends questions without approval
- Keeps sheet references with every item
It stops when
- Done: all conflicts closed
- Stop: designer unresponsive; lead decides whether to proceed on an assumption
