Ambee MCP server

by ambeelabs · official

Lets your AI check live air quality, pollen and weather for any place you name.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Is it a bad pollen day in Atlanta?”, the Ambee MCP server connects it to Ambee, and you get back A plain answer in your chat.

This is a small helper made by Ambee, a company that collects air quality, pollen and weather data around the world. Once you connect it, your AI assistant can look up current conditions and the next 48 hours for a city or a set of coordinates. It is handy if you plan outdoor events, care about allergies, or just want to know if the air is bad today.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to Ambee, so when you ask about the air or the pollen in a city, the AI can actually fetch live numbers instead of guessing. You do not need to understand how it works under the hood; you just ask your question in plain words.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like "is it a bad pollen day in Atlanta?". The AI uses this helper, which sends your question to Ambee's data service. Ambee replies with the latest readings or an hour-by-hour forecast for the next two days. The AI then turns those numbers into a normal answer in your chat. You can give a place name like Bengaluru or a latitude and longitude, and the helper handles the rest.

What you can do with it

  • Check the current air quality and main pollutant for any city
  • See an hour-by-hour air quality forecast for the next 48 hours
  • Look up current temperature, wind, humidity and UV index
  • Get a 48-hour weather forecast for a place you name
  • Check tree, grass and weed pollen levels right now
  • See a pollen forecast for the next two days
  • Compare conditions between two locations

Try asking your AI

  • “How bad is the air in Los Angeles right now?”
  • “When is PM2.5 lowest tomorrow so I can run outside?”
  • “My kid has a grass allergy. Is Saturday morning in Austin going to be rough for her?”
  • “What's the UV index at 90210 right now, in metric units?”

What it gives back to you

You get a normal chat answer built from live data: numbers like AQI, pollutant levels, temperature, humidity, wind, UV index, and pollen counts, plus short labels such as the air quality category or pollen risk level. If you ask about a forecast, the AI can summarise the next 48 hours or point out the best window for you. If something goes wrong, like a wrong place name or a used-up quota, the AI explains the problem instead of showing a raw error code.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js 18 or newer installed on your computer
  • A free Ambee API key from the Ambee API dashboard (a kind of password for apps)
  • An AI app that supports MCP servers, such as Claude Desktop, Cursor or VS Code

Good to know

It only reads data and cannot change anything, but every lookup uses your Ambee plan's quota, so heavy use can hit your limit.

Install it with your AI

Add Ambee MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Ambee MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
