Yandex Wordstat MCP server
by askads
Lets your AI look up how often people search a phrase on Yandex, plus related queries, seasonality and regions.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Yandex Wordstat, the tool that shows how many people search for a phrase on Yandex. You can ask things like how popular a keyword is, which related phrases people also type, and which months or cities show the most interest. It is handy for anyone doing keyword research, marketing or content planning for the Russian market.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect once, and it gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Yandex Wordstat, so it can look up real search demand numbers for you. You just ask in normal words, and the AI goes and fetches the data through this helper.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about search demand, for example how often a phrase is searched or which related phrases exist. The AI sends that request to this helper, which talks to the Yandex Cloud Search API and pulls the Wordstat numbers. The helper sends the results back, and the AI explains them to you in the chat. Everything is read only, so it only looks things up and never changes anything in Wordstat. You can narrow reports to a region or compare phones, computers and tablets.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check how many times a phrase is searched per month
- Find related and similar queries around a keyword
- See demand over time by day, week or month
- Spot which months or weeks interest rises and falls
- Compare demand across regions and cities
- Look up the region ID you need for a report
- Compare searches on phones, computers and tablets
Try asking your AI
- “How many times a month do people search for buy a bicycle, and what related queries are there?”
- “Show demand for ski trips by month over the last year”
- “Which cities have above average interest in apartment renovation?”
- “Compare searches for this service on phones and on computers”
What it gives back to you
You get back lists of queries with their search counts, a series of numbers over time, or a breakdown by region, all shown in the chat. The AI usually adds a short explanation, like which month is busiest or which city stands out. Counts may come back as text numbers, and the AI will read them for you. Nothing is saved as a file unless you ask the AI to write it up.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 20 or newer on your computer
- An API key for Yandex Cloud Search API (a kind of password for apps; you create it in Yandex Cloud)
- A Yandex Cloud catalog ID (folderId), which you can find in the Yandex Cloud console
- An AI app that supports MCP servers, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Codex
Good to know
It only reads data and cannot change anything in Wordstat, but your API key sits in your app config in plain text, so keep it private and watch your Yandex Cloud quota since every lookup uses it.
