This is a small helper that connects your AI to a big collection of world geographic data. It covers 261 countries and territories and about 13.4 million cities. It is handy if you often need country facts or city details for reports, travel plans or research.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Bamwor, a world geographic data service. Once it is set up, you can just ask your AI about a country or a city, and it will fetch the answer for you.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about a country or a city, like the population of Japan or cities near Tokyo. Your AI passes that question to this helper. The helper talks to the Bamwor service over the internet and asks for the data. Bamwor sends back the facts, and your AI shows them to you in the chat. You never have to visit a website or copy numbers by hand.

What you can do with it

  • Look up a country and get its population, area, capital and region
  • Search for countries by name or keyword
  • Search cities worldwide by name
  • List the biggest cities in a country
  • Compare two countries side by side
  • See country rankings by population, area, GDP and other metrics
  • Find cities near a given city within a chosen distance

Try asking your AI

  • “What is the population and capital of Japan?”
  • “Show me the ten largest cities in Brazil.”
  • “Compare France and Germany on population, area and life expectancy.”
  • “Which cities are within 50 km of Tokyo?”

What it gives back to you

You get clear answers in the chat, usually as short lists or small tables. For a country you might see its population, area, capital, region and other statistics. For cities you get names with population, coordinates and timezone. For comparisons you get the two countries lined up side by side.

Before you start

  • A free Bamwor API key for full access (a kind of password for apps; you get one on the Bamwor site)

Good to know

It only reads data, so it will not change or delete anything, but heavy use may hit limits on your Bamwor account.
