Geomelon MCP server
by 930m310n · official
Lets your AI look up cities, countries, regions and languages, and autocomplete place names.

This is a helper that connects your AI to Geomelon, a service full of information about places: cities, countries, regions and languages, including their names in many languages. It is handy if you often need to check where a city is, how far two cities are apart, or what a place is called in another language. You do not need to be technical to use it once someone sets it up for you.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Geomelon, a place-information service. Once it is connected, your AI can look things up in Geomelon and bring the answers back to you when you ask.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about a place, like which cities are near a spot on the map. Your AI passes that request to this helper. The helper talks to the Geomelon service, which holds the city, country, region and language data. Geomelon sends back the matching information, and your AI shows it to you in the chat as a list or a short answer.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search for cities by name, country, region or population size
- Find the cities closest to a set of map coordinates
- Get the distance in kilometres between two cities
- Look up a country's details, regions and name translations
- List all languages in the database
- Autocomplete a city name as you type it
- Compare two cities side by side with their distance
Try asking your AI
- “What are the largest cities near latitude 48.85 and longitude 2.35?”
- “How far is Tokyo from Seoul in kilometres?”
- “List the regions of Portugal.”
- “What is the name of Germany in other languages?”
What it gives back to you
You get back lists, short summaries and numbers, shown right in the chat. For example, a list of city names with their countries and populations, or a single distance figure in kilometres. Country and region lookups come back with their details and name translations. Nothing is changed or deleted anywhere, it is all read-only information.
Before you start
What you need
- A RapidAPI key with the Geomelon API subscribed (a kind of password for apps; RapidAPI gives you one when you sign up)
- Node.js 18 or newer if you run it yourself
- An AI app that supports MCP servers, like Claude Desktop, Cursor or Claude Code
Good to know
It only reads place information, so it cannot change or delete anything, but the full set of tools needs a paid RapidAPI subscription.
Install it with your AI
Add Geomelon MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Geomelon MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who often works with places, travel, addresses or maps, like travel planners, logistics and support teams, researchers, and writers checking place names.
