Google Search Console Read-Only MCP server
by brodesigns
Ask your AI about your Google Search Console data: search clicks, sitemaps, and index status.
This is a small helper that lets your AI read your Google Search Console data. It can only look, never change anything. It is handy if you do SEO or run a website and want quick answers about your traffic without clicking through the Search Console screens.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Google Search Console, so it can look up your search data for you. You just ask in normal words, and the AI uses this helper behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about your website in Search Console. The AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to the Google Search Console API using a special key you set up in advance. Google sends back the data, and the AI turns it into a plain answer in your chat. It only reads: it never submits, deletes, or changes anything.
What you can do with it
- List every Search Console property your key can see
- Check sitemap status, errors, warnings, and how many URLs are indexed
- Pull clicks, impressions, click-through rate, and average position by query, page, or date
- Inspect one URL for index status, canonical URL, and mobile usability
- Compare performance across different queries or pages
- Ask follow-up questions on the same data without leaving the chat
Try asking your AI
- “Which queries brought the most clicks to my site last month?”
- “Show me sitemap errors for my property.”
- “Is this page indexed, and what does Google say is the canonical URL?”
- “What is my average position for pages about pricing?”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in plain words right in the chat. That can be a list of queries or pages, a table of clicks and impressions, a summary of sitemap health, or a short status report for one URL. The AI often adds a sentence or two of context in normal language. Nothing in Search Console is changed by any of this.
Before you start
What you need
- A Google account that can access the Search Console property
- A Google Cloud service account with a JSON key file (the README walks you through it step by step)
- The Search Console API enabled in that Google Cloud project
- That service account email added as a user in Search Console (use Full access if you want search analytics)
