Let your AI read, search and post on Twitter/X using your own browser login, with no developer account.

xbird is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Twitter/X. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to search posts, read a timeline, or publish a tweet, and it does it for you. It is handy if you work with social media and want to skip the usual copy and paste between tabs.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill, in this case a connection to Twitter/X. You install xbird once, and from then on your AI can look things up on X or do things there when you ask. It uses the Twitter login already saved in your browser, so you do not need a developer account or special keys.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about Twitter/X, like finding recent posts on a topic or checking your mentions. Your AI passes that request to the xbird helper running on your own computer. The helper talks to Twitter/X using the login cookies from your browser, then sends the results back to your AI. Your AI shows you the answer in the chat, or makes the change you asked for, like posting a tweet or liking one. The xbird company server is only used to check a small payment, and the actual Twitter calls happen from your machine.

What you can do with it

  • Search recent tweets on any topic or keyword
  • Read your home timeline, mentions and bookmarks
  • Post a new tweet or reply to an existing one
  • Like, follow or unfollow accounts
  • Upload images or video to attach to a post
  • Look up a user profile and their followers
  • Fetch replies under a specific tweet

Try asking your AI

  • “Search Twitter for the latest posts about our product launch and summarise them”
  • “Show me my mentions from the last day and group them by topic”
  • “Post a tweet saying we just shipped version 2.0, with this image attached”
  • “Find the five most liked tweets about AI agents this week”

What it gives back to you

You get answers straight in the chat: lists of tweets with their text, author and numbers, user profiles, or a short summary you asked for. When you post or like something, the AI tells you it was done and shows the new tweet or the confirmation. Media uploads come back as a media ID that gets attached to your post. Everything is presented as normal chat text, so you can read it and keep working.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js 18 or newer, or Bun if you want automatic cookie detection
  • A Twitter/X account you are already logged into in your browser
  • A payment wallet (created automatically on first run) with a small balance for the per-call fees

Good to know

It acts as your Twitter/X account, so anything it posts, likes or follows shows up as you, and each action costs a small fee from your wallet.
