GitHub Enterprise MCP server
by ddukbg
Lets your AI look up and manage repos, issues, and pull requests on your company's GitHub.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your company's GitHub Enterprise. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to find a repository, read a file, list pull requests, or open an issue, and it will do it for you. It is handy for developers and anyone who works with code on a company GitHub server.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to GitHub Enterprise, so it can look things up and do things there when you ask. You set it up once, and after that you just talk to your AI like usual.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "show me the open pull requests in the payments repo". The AI sends that request to this helper program. The helper talks to your GitHub Enterprise server using a personal access token, which is like a password for apps. GitHub sends back the information, and the helper passes it to your AI. Your AI then shows you a clean answer in the chat, like a list of pull requests with their titles and numbers.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it

Try asking your AI
- “List the open pull requests in the acme/web repo”
- “Show me the contents of the README file in acme/web”
- “Create an issue in acme/web titled 'Login page broken' with label bug”
- “What workflows are in the acme/web repo?”
What it gives back to you
You get back answers in the chat: lists of repositories, branches, pull requests, or issues, and the contents of files. When you ask it to create or change something, it tells you what it did, like the number of a new issue or pull request. Enterprise admin tools return license details and system statistics. Everything shows up as normal text you can read and copy.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 18 or higher (a free program you install once)
- Access to a GitHub Enterprise instance
- A personal access token from GitHub (a kind of password for apps; you create it in your GitHub settings)
- For license and enterprise stats: a site administrator account
Good to know
It can change or delete things on GitHub, including deleting repositories, so check before you say yes to any action that writes or removes data.
