Insumer MCP server

by douglasborthwick-crypto

Let your AI check wallet conditions and get signed true or false answers across many blockchains.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Does wallet 0xd8dA...96045 hold at least 1000 USDC on Ethereum?”, the Insumer MCP server connects it to Insumer, and you get back signed yes or no.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to InsumerAPI, a service that checks conditions on cryptocurrency wallets. You give it a wallet address and a rule, like whether the wallet holds at least 1,000 USDC, and it tells you yes or no in a signed, checkable way. It is handy for people working with crypto payments, compliance, or merchant discounts who want quick answers without exposing anyone's balances.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to InsumerAPI, so when you ask about a wallet, your AI can actually look up the answer there for you. You do not need to understand how it works under the hood; you just ask in plain words.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like whether a wallet holds enough USDC on Ethereum. Your AI sends that request through this helper to InsumerAPI. InsumerAPI checks the blockchain and returns a signed yes or no, without showing any balances or amounts. Your AI then shows you the result in the chat, and you can trust it because it comes with a signature you can check later.

What you can do with it

  • Check if a wallet holds a certain amount of a token on a specific chain
  • See if a wallet owns a particular NFT collection
  • Get a trust profile for a wallet with many checks at once
  • Look up merchants and their discount rules
  • Create a signed discount code for a wallet at a merchant
  • Onboard a new merchant and set up their token discounts
  • Verify a merchant's domain to get a trust badge

Try asking your AI

  • “Does wallet 0xd8dA...96045 hold at least 1000 USDC on Ethereum?”
  • “Give me a trust profile for this wallet across all supported chains.”
  • “What discount would this wallet get at merchant XYZ?”
  • “Create a discount code for this wallet at that merchant.”

What it gives back to you

You get back a clear yes or no for each condition you asked about, along with a signed proof you can check later. For trust profiles, you get a list of facts about the wallet, like which stablecoins or NFTs it holds, but never the actual amounts. For discounts, you get a code like INSR-XXXXX that expires in 30 minutes. Everything appears in your chat as plain text or a small structured summary.

Before you start

What you need

  • An InsumerAPI key (free, you can get one with just an email, or let your AI create it for you)
  • Node.js installed on your computer (the free helper that runs the server)
  • The Claude desktop app or another AI tool that supports MCP servers

Good to know

Some tools can spend money or create or change merchant settings, so be careful with your API key and never use a wallet with meaningful funds as a payment key.

Install it with your AI
