Company Registry MCP server

by foretak

Your AI can look up company records, filing deadlines and VAT status from UK, Norwegian and Swedish registers.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Look up Tesco in the UK company register”, the Company Registry MCP server connects it to Company registers, and you get back company record and deadlines.

This is a helper that lets your AI look up official company information from three national registers: Companies House in the UK, Brønnøysundregistrene in Norway, and Bolagsverket in Sweden. You ask in plain words, and it fetches the register's own record for a company. It is handy if you check suppliers, customers or partners and want the facts straight from the source.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to company registers in the UK, Norway and Sweden, so it can look up a company or check a filing deadline when you ask. You do not need to know how it works under the hood.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like "look up Tesco in the UK register". Your AI passes that to this helper. The helper talks to the right national register, such as Companies House for the UK or Brønnøysundregistrene for Norway. It brings back the company's record, and if you asked about deadlines, it also brings the next filing dates with the reason each one applies. Your AI then shows you the answer in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • Look up a company by its national company number
  • Search for a company by name and see matching candidates
  • Check the next filing deadlines for a company
  • Check whether a Norwegian company is VAT registered
  • Validate a company number before you use it
  • See a company's status, address, industry codes and legal form

Try asking your AI

  • “Look up Tesco PLC in the UK register and tell me its status and address”
  • “Find the Norwegian company with organisation number 923609016 and show me its details”
  • “What are the next filing deadlines for company 00445790 in the UK”
  • “Is this Norwegian company VAT registered: 923609016”

What it gives back to you

You get back a company record with the name, company number, status, legal form, address, industry codes and registration date. If you asked about deadlines, you get the next due dates and a short reason for each one. If you asked about VAT, you get a yes or no for Norway. It all appears as text in your chat, and the answer notes when the data was fetched.

Before you start

What you need

  • Nothing to install if you use the hosted service at api.foretak.dev
  • A free Companies House API key only if you run your own copy for UK data
  • Bolagsverket client ID and secret only if you run your own copy for Swedish data

Good to know

It is read-only and does not change anything, but the data comes from public registers and can be up to 24 hours old, so check the fetched time when it matters.
