LEGO Oracle MCP server

by gregario

Ask your AI about LEGO sets, parts, and minifigures using real Rebrickable data instead of guesses.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Which sets include a red 2x4 brick?”, on your own computer the LEGO Oracle MCP server works with LEGO catalog, and you get back answer in chat.

This is a small helper that lets your AI assistant look up real LEGO information. It covers sets, individual bricks, minifigures, themes, and even community alternate builds. It is handy if you collect LEGO, build with your kids, or just want to know which set a certain brick came from.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something useful. This one connects your AI to the Rebrickable LEGO catalog, so it can look up real sets, parts, and minifigures for you. You just ask in normal words, and the helper fetches the facts.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about LEGO, like which sets include a certain brick. The AI sends that question to this helper, which checks a built-in copy of the Rebrickable catalog. The helper finds the matching sets, parts, or minifigures and sends the details back. Your AI then explains the answer to you in the chat. No internet lookup happens while you use it, since all the data is packed inside.

What you can do with it

  • Search LEGO sets by name, theme, year, or piece count
  • Get full details of a set, including its parts and minifigures
  • Compare two to four sets side by side
  • Find which sets contain a specific part, in a specific colour
  • Look up a minifigure and every set it appears in
  • Browse LEGO themes and their sub-themes
  • Find community alternate builds for a set's parts

Try asking your AI

  • “What LEGO sets came out in 2021 with more than 1000 pieces?”
  • “Which sets include a red 2x4 brick?”
  • “Compare set 10281 and set 10280”
  • “Tell me about the minifigure named Yoda”
  • “What alternate builds exist for the parts in set 21318?”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in plain chat text, often as a list or a short summary. For a set, you might see its piece count, year, theme, and minifigures. For a part search, you get the sets that contain it, sorted by how many they include. For a comparison, the AI lays out the differences side by side.
