GrowthBook MCP server
by growthbook · official
Let your AI look up and change GrowthBook feature flags and experiments for you, by asking in plain words.

This is a small helper made by GrowthBook, the company behind the feature flag and experiment tool. It connects your AI assistant to your own GrowthBook account so the AI can read your setup and make changes there when you ask. It is handy if you already use GrowthBook at work and want to stop clicking around the website for every little thing.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app, and here that app is GrowthBook. Once it is connected, your AI can look things up in your GrowthBook account and make changes there for you. You still ask in normal words, and the helper does the technical part in the background.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something about your GrowthBook setup, like what feature flags exist or what an experiment is doing. The AI uses this helper to talk to the GrowthBook service through its official connection. The helper sends the request and brings back the answer. For changes, the AI sends the new details and the helper passes them along to GrowthBook. You then see the result in your chat, either the information you asked for or a note that the change went through.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- List your feature flags and projects
- Look up details about a specific flag or experiment
- Create a new feature flag
- Update the settings on an existing flag
- Turn a flag on or off
- Read the guided workflows that ship with this helper
- Delete a flag or other item when you really mean it
Try asking your AI
- “Show me all the feature flags in my GrowthBook project”
- “What is the status of the checkout redesign experiment?”
- “Create a new feature flag called new-homepage and turn it off for now”
- “Turn on the holiday-banner flag for everyone”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in your chat: lists of flags or projects, details about a single item, or a short confirmation that a change was made. The helper passes back whatever GrowthBook sends, so it can be a simple yes or a longer block of information. If something goes wrong, like a wrong key or a limit being hit, you get a clear error message instead of silence.
Before you start
What you need
- A GrowthBook account
- A GrowthBook API key or personal access token (a kind of password for apps; you create it in your GrowthBook settings)
- Node.js 18 or newer if you run it yourself
- The Claude desktop app or another AI app that supports MCP servers
Good to know
The write tool can create, change, or delete things in your GrowthBook account, so only ask for changes you really want and check the result afterwards.
Install it with your AI
Add GrowthBook MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check GrowthBook MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Product managers, marketers, and engineers who already use GrowthBook and want to check or change feature flags and experiments without leaving their chat.
