Bing Search MCP server

by HasData

Lets your AI run Bing searches and hand back the results, the ads and the Copilot answer.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Search Bing for beginner gardening tips”, the Bing Search MCP server connects it to Bing Search, and you get back A tidy list of results in your chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Bing search. You ask a question, and instead of guessing, your AI actually looks it up on Bing and reads the results page for you. It is handy if you check rankings, watch ads, or compare what people see in different countries.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill. This helper gives it a connection to Bing search. So when you ask your AI to search Bing, it sends the request through this helper, and the helper brings the results back into your chat.

What this MCP server does

You type a request like search Bing for something. Your AI passes that search to this helper. The helper runs the search on Bing and reads the results page. Then it hands back a tidy list of results, and when the page has them, the ads and Bing's own Copilot answer. Your AI shows all of that to you in the chat, in plain text you can read.

What you can do with it

  • Search Bing and get the top results with titles, links and short descriptions
  • See which companies are running ads on a search term right now
  • Read Bing Copilot's answer and the pages it cites
  • Run the same search from another country or in another language
  • Search as a mobile or tablet visitor and compare with desktop
  • Limit results to pages from the past day, week or month
  • Page through to the second or third set of results

Try asking your AI

  • “Search Bing for python web scraping tutorials and list the top ten sources”
  • “Who is advertising against the query best crm software on Bing right now”
  • “What does Bing Copilot answer for this query and which pages does it cite”
  • “Run this query from Germany in German and compare the results with the US ones”

What it gives back to you

You get back a list of results, each with its position, title, link and a short snippet. When the page has ads, you also get those, and when Bing shows its Copilot answer, you get that text plus the pages it used. It all appears in your chat as readable text, not as a file or a download.

Before you start

What you need

  • An MCP client, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf or VS Code
  • A HasData API key (a kind of password for apps; you get one free from the HasData dashboard, no card needed)

Good to know

Each search costs 10 credits from your HasData account, so a long list of searches adds up, and results can include pages about real people, which you should handle carefully.

Install it with your AI
