Attio MCP server

by hmk

Let your AI read your Attio company records and notes, and write new notes for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “What notes do we have on Acme?”, the Attio MCP server connects it to Attio, and you get back the answer in your chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Attio, a customer relationship management (CRM) tool where teams keep track of companies and contacts. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI about your Attio companies and notes without opening Attio yourself. It is handy if you work with customer or sales data and want quick answers in plain chat.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Attio, so it can look up your company records and notes there, and add new notes when you ask. You do not need to understand how it works inside; you just add it once and then talk to your AI as usual.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your Attio data, like which companies you have or what notes exist for one of them. Your AI passes that request to this helper. The helper talks to Attio using your Attio account key and fetches the records or notes. Then your AI shows you the answer in the chat, or writes a new note back into Attio if you asked it to.

What you can do with it

  • Read your company records from Attio
  • Read the notes attached to a company
  • Write a new note on a company for you
  • Answer questions about your Attio companies in plain chat
  • Look up details of a specific company by name

Try asking your AI

  • “List the companies in my Attio account.”
  • “What notes do we have on the company Acme?”
  • “Add a note to Acme saying we had a call today and they want a follow-up next week.”
  • “Show me the details for the company called Northwind.”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, like a list of companies, the details of one company, or the notes saved on it. If you asked it to write a note, it tells you the note was added. Everything appears as normal text in your conversation, no files or downloads.

Before you start

What you need

  • An Attio account
  • An Attio API key (a kind of password for apps; Attio gives you one through its API Explorer page)
  • The Claude desktop app or another app that supports MCP servers
  • Node.js installed on your computer (version 22 or newer is recommended)

Good to know

This helper can write new notes into your Attio account, so check what your AI is about to add before you let it save anything.

Install it with your AI
