AtomGit MCP server

by kaiyuanxiaobing

Let your AI manage AtomGit repositories, issues, pull requests, branches and labels for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Show me the open issues in my-team/website”, the AtomGit MCP server connects it to AtomGit, and you get back answers in your chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to AtomGit, a platform where people keep and share code together. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to look at your repositories, open issues, or check pull requests. It is handy for anyone who works with AtomGit and would rather ask than click around.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to AtomGit, so it can look things up there or do things for you when you ask. You stay in the chat, and the helper does the running around.

What this MCP server does

You type a request in your AI chat, like asking what issues are open on a repository. Your AI passes that request to this helper. The helper talks to AtomGit using your access token and fetches or changes what you asked for. Then your AI shows you the result in the chat, as a list, a summary, or a short confirmation. You never have to open AtomGit yourself unless you want to.

What you can do with it

  • List the repositories you have access to, or the ones your organization has
  • List and read issues in a repository, including their comments
  • Create new issues and add comments to existing ones
  • Assign people to issues and check who can be assigned
  • Create pull requests and comment on them
  • Look at branches in a repository and get details about one
  • Add, view, or remove labels on issues

Try asking your AI

  • “List all my AtomGit repositories”
  • “Show me the open issues in the project my-team/website”
  • “Create an issue in my-team/website titled Fix the broken login link”
  • “What labels are on issue number 12 in my-team/website”

What it gives back to you

You get answers right in the chat. That can be a list of repositories, issues, comments, branches, or labels, or the details of a single item. When you ask it to create or change something, it tells you what it did. Everything is shown as text you can read and copy.

Before you start

What you need

  • An AtomGit account
  • An AtomGit personal access token (a kind of password for apps; AtomGit gives you one from your account settings)
  • Node.js version 18.20.2 or newer if you run it with npx

Good to know

It can create, change, and delete things on AtomGit, like issues, comments, and labels, so check before you confirm a request that changes something.

Install it with your AI
