GitWarren MCP server
by klarluft · official
Lets your AI open local code reviews, read your line comments, reply in the thread and mark fixes resolved.
GitWarren is a code review tool that runs on your own computer. It shows you the changes an AI coding agent just made to your files, in a familiar pull-request style screen, before any of it becomes a commit. The MCP server is the part that connects your coding agent to that review, so you and the agent can talk about the changes right there.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI assistant can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program running on your machine that gives your AI one extra skill. This server gives it the ability to work with GitWarren, your local code review tool. So when you ask it to open a review or answer your comment, it can actually go and do that instead of just describing it.
What this MCP server does
You finish a task with your coding agent and the changed files are sitting on your disk, not yet committed. Your agent uses this helper to open a review of those changes inside GitWarren. You read the diff and leave comments on specific lines. The agent reads your comments through the same connection, answers in the thread, and marks the ones it fixed as resolved. Everything stays on your computer.
What you can do with it
- Open a review of the changes your agent just made
- Read the comments you left on specific lines
- Reply to your comments inside the same thread
- Mark a comment resolved once the fix is done
- Pull up the diff again when you ask a follow-up question
- Show which files changed, including uncommitted work
Try asking your AI
- “Open a review of the changes you just made so I can look at them”
- “What comments did I leave on the review?”
- “I fixed the naming issue you flagged, can you reply to my comment?”
- “Resolve the comments you have already handled”
What it gives back to you
You get your review shown in GitWarren with the changed files and lines, plus the agent's replies appearing in the comment threads as you read. When the agent opens or updates a review, it tells you in the chat that the review is ready and where to look at it. Comments you left show up as answers in the chat too. Everything you see is read straight from git at that moment.
Before you start
What you need
- A local git repository on your computer
- GitWarren installed (the desktop app or the gitwarren command line)
- A coding agent that can use MCP tools, like Claude Code or Codex
- The GitWarren plugin or MCP server added to your agent
Good to know
It can read the git worktree and write comments and replies in your local GitWarren reviews, so keep in mind it works with your real code and files.
Install it with your AI
Add GitWarren MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check GitWarren MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
