Wallet Inspector MCP server

by kukapay

Lets your AI look up any crypto wallet's balances and recent transactions across major chains.

This is a small helper that lets your AI check a crypto wallet for you. You give it a wallet address, and it tells you what is in that wallet and what it has been doing lately. It is handy if you follow crypto wallets for work or as a hobby but do not want to click around block explorers yourself.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Dune's wallet data service, so it can look up balances and transactions on chains like Ethereum, Polygon, BSC, Base, Arbitrum and Solana. Once it is set up, you just ask in normal words and the AI does the looking up for you.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like what is in this wallet, and you paste the wallet address. The AI passes your question to this helper program. The helper then asks Dune's data service for the wallet's balances or recent activity. When the answer comes back, the AI shows it to you in the chat, usually as a neat table or a short list. You do not have to visit any website or copy numbers by hand.

What you can do with it

  • Check the balance of a wallet across several chains at once
  • See the USD value of the tokens a wallet holds
  • Look at recent activity for an EVM wallet
  • List the latest transactions for a wallet
  • Limit how many transactions you want to see
  • Compare what a wallet holds on Ethereum, Polygon, BSC, Base, Arbitrum and Solana

Try asking your AI

  • “Check the balance of wallet 0xd8da6bf26964af9d7eed9e03e53415d37aa96045”
  • “What is the balance for wallet DYw8jCTfwHNRJhhmFcbXvVDTqWMEVFBX6ZKUmG5CNSKK”
  • “Show activity for wallet 0xd8da6bf26964af9d7eed9e03e53415d37aa96045”
  • “List the latest 10 transactions for 0x1234567890abcdef1234567890abcdef12345678”

What it gives back to you

For balances, you get a small table with the chain, the token amount and the USD value. For activity and transactions, you get a short block of text with the chain, time, transaction hash, who sent it, who received it and the amount. If something goes wrong, like a bad address, you get a short error message instead. Everything shows up right in the chat, so you can read it or ask follow-up questions.

Before you start

What you need

  • Python 3.10 or newer on your computer
  • A Dune SIM API key (a kind of password for apps; you get one for free from dune.com)
  • The uv tool, or pip, to install the helper
  • An MCP-compatible app such as the Claude desktop app

Good to know

This helper only reads public wallet data, so it cannot move or spend anything, but the wallet addresses you look up are sent to Dune's service, so avoid pasting addresses you want to keep private.
