Langfuse Prompts MCP server
by langfuse
Lets your AI look up and fill in your Langfuse prompts right inside the chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Langfuse, the tool where teams keep and manage their AI prompts. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to list your prompts or fetch one and fill in its blanks, without opening Langfuse yourself. It is handy if you write or test prompts and want them close at hand while you chat.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill or one new connection. This helper connects your AI to Langfuse Prompt Management, so the AI can look up your saved prompts and bring them back to you. You just ask in plain words, and the helper does the fetching behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like which prompts you have, or to fetch a specific one. The AI passes that request to this helper program running on your computer. The helper then talks to Langfuse using your account keys and asks for the prompt you named. Langfuse sends the prompt back, and the helper fills in any variables you gave it. Your AI then shows you the finished prompt right in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- List the prompts you have in Langfuse
- Fetch one prompt by its name
- Fill in a prompt's variables with your own values
- See which arguments a prompt expects
- Page through your prompts when there are many
- Get a ready-to-use prompt text without opening Langfuse
Try asking your AI
- “List my Langfuse prompts”
- “Get the prompt called welcome-email”
- “Fetch the prompt support-reply and fill in customerName as Anna and topic as refund”
- “Show me the next page of my prompts”
What it gives back to you
You get back a list of prompt names, or the full text of one prompt with your variables already filled in. The list may also show which arguments each prompt expects. Everything appears as normal text in your chat, so you can copy it or ask the AI to use it right away.
Before you start
What you need
- A Langfuse account with prompts saved in it
- Your Langfuse public key and secret key (these are like passwords for apps; Langfuse shows them in your project settings)
- The address of your Langfuse instance, for example https://cloud.langfuse.com
- Node.js installed on your computer, since this helper runs locally
Good to know
Only prompts marked with the production label in Langfuse are returned, and your secret key should be kept private since it gives access to your Langfuse project.
Install it with your AI
