Odoo Pulse MCP server

by minhhq-a1

Ask your AI for a plain-English business report from your Odoo data, with a verdict on how things are going.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “How is the business doing today?”, the Odoo Pulse MCP server connects it to Odoo, and you get back plain-English report.

Odoo Pulse is a helper that lets your AI read your Odoo business system and turn it into short, readable reports. Instead of clicking through dashboards, you just ask a question and get numbers, highlights, risks, and a simple verdict like on-track or at-risk. It is handy for managers, founders, and team leads who use Odoo but do not want to dig through it every morning.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Odoo, your business system, so it can look things up there for you. When you ask a question, the AI passes it to this helper, the helper asks Odoo, and the answer comes back to you in the chat.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like how the business is doing today. The AI sends that question to the Odoo Pulse helper. The helper logs into your Odoo account and pulls the relevant numbers, like sales, invoices, leads, or stock. It then shapes them into a short report with highlights, risks, and a verdict. You get that report back in the chat, in plain words, without opening Odoo yourself.

What you can do with it

  • Get a morning briefing with yesterday's sales, new leads, overdue invoices, and who is off
  • Review your sales pipeline by stage and spot stalled deals
  • Compare this period's revenue with last period and see top customers
  • Check which invoices are overdue and who owes the most
  • Spot stock shortages and dead inventory
  • See who is absent this week and which teams are thin on coverage
  • Check project budgets, hours logged, and margins

Try asking your AI

  • “Run business_pulse for my company”
  • “Give me a pipeline review and flag stalled deals”
  • “How healthy are our receivables right now”
  • “Show me inventory risk and any shortages”

What it gives back to you

You get a short structured report in the chat: numbers, highlights, risks, and a verdict such as on-track, at-risk, or off-track. For example, a business pulse returns yesterday's sales, new leads, overdue invoices, late tasks, and who is off. Money reports also flag mixed currencies instead of quietly adding them up. Everything is written to be read, not interpreted.

Before you start

What you need

  • An Odoo account (Odoo Online, Odoo.sh, or on-premise)
  • Odoo version 18 or newer for the report tools
  • An Odoo API key, which you create in Odoo under Settings, Users, your user, Account Security, New API Key
  • The Claude desktop app or Claude Code, plus uvx installed (it comes with the uv tool)

Good to know

It is read-only by default, but if you turn on writes it can change or delete records in your Odoo, so keep it read-only unless you really need otherwise.
