BriefKit MCP server

by mithun4elp

Lets your AI write ready-made SaaS specs: design systems, database schemas and security rules.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Help me set up the database for my booking app”, the BriefKit MCP server works in steps: you share your idea, then briefKit builds the spec, then you get a document, and you get back A ready-made spec.

BriefKit is a small helper you connect to your AI so it can write proper planning documents for a software product. Instead of your AI guessing at database tables and design rules from scratch, it uses BriefKit to produce a tidy, structured spec. It is handy if you are planning a SaaS app and want a solid starting document without hiring a technical writer.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something useful. This one connects your AI to BriefKit, a spec generator for software projects. So when you ask about building an app, your AI can call BriefKit and hand you back a real document instead of a vague answer.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like "help me set up the database for my booking app". Your AI passes the details to BriefKit through this helper. BriefKit builds a structured specification, such as a database schema or a design system, using its own templates. Your AI then shows you the result in the chat, and you can copy it into your project. The README also notes it uses far fewer tokens than letting the AI figure everything out on its own.

What you can do with it

  • Generate a design system document with colors, fonts, spacing and dark mode
  • Create a PostgreSQL or Supabase database schema with tables, columns and indexes
  • Write Row Level Security policies per table and per role
  • Get a security baseline alongside your schema
  • Ask what BriefKit is and what the full brief pack contains
  • Save tokens on spec-heavy work in tools like Claude Code or Cursor

Try asking your AI

  • “I'm building a CRM for real estate agents. Help me set up the database.”
  • “Generate RLS policies for my SaaS. I have profiles, orders and payments tables with Owner and Member roles.”
  • “Create a design system for my project management app, including dark mode.”
  • “What is BriefKit and what comes in the full brief pack?”

What it gives back to you

You get a written specification back in the chat, such as a DESIGN.md file, a SQL schema, or a set of Row Level Security policies. It comes as structured text you can read, copy and paste into your project. Sometimes it is a short explanation of what BriefKit offers. You do not get a finished app, just the planning documents.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer
  • The Claude desktop app or Claude Code, or another AI tool that supports MCP servers
  • The BriefKit server files downloaded from GitHub

Good to know

The generated specs are starting points, not finished products, so read them before using them in a real project.

Install it with your AI

Add BriefKit MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check BriefKit MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
