Real Browser MCP server
by ofershap
Lets your AI see and click around in the Chrome browser you already have open, with your logins.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to the Chrome browser already running on your computer. It is handy if you want the AI to check a page, click a button, or fill in a form in a site you are already signed in to. You do not need to be technical to use it, but someone has to set it up once.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something. This one connects your AI to your real Chrome browser, so the AI can look at pages and do things there when you ask. It does not open a separate browser; it uses the one you already have open.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "check if the checkout page works". The AI uses this helper to look at the tab you have open in Chrome. The helper sends the request to a small Chrome add-on, which reads the page or clicks things for you. Then the answer comes back into your chat, as text, a list, or a picture of the screen. Nothing is sent to a company server; it all stays on your computer.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Look at what is on the page you have open
- Click buttons and links by name or by what they say
- Type into text boxes and forms
- Take a screenshot of the current page
- Open, switch, or close browser tabs
- Read the browser console for errors
- Wait for something to appear before continuing
Try asking your AI
- “Check if the login page loads correctly in my browser”
- “Click the Save button on the settings page and tell me what happens”
- “Take a screenshot of the current tab”
- “Fill in the search box with my order number and press Enter”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in your chat: short descriptions of what the AI saw, lists of buttons or links, text pulled from the page, or a screenshot image. If it clicked or typed something, it tells you what it did. It can also show console errors or network requests if you ask.
Before you start
What you need
- The Chrome browser open on your computer
- The Real Browser MCP Chrome extension installed from the Chrome Web Store
- An AI app that supports MCP, like Cursor or Claude Desktop
- Node.js installed (the setup uses a command called npx)
Good to know
The AI can click, type, and read anything in the tab it is connected to, including pages where you are logged in, so avoid pointing it at tabs with sensitive information unless you are okay with that.
Install it with your AI
Add Real Browser MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Real Browser MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who test websites or web apps and want their AI to check things in the browser they are already logged in to, without setting up a separate test browser.
