This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to a Mifos X or Apache Fineract banking system. Mifos X is software used by banks and microfinance organisations to keep track of clients, loans, savings and shares. If you work with that kind of system and want to ask your AI questions or make changes in plain language, this is for you.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot see your banking system or change anything in it. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another app. This helper connects your AI to Mifos X, so when you ask it something about clients, loans or savings, it can go and look it up or carry out the action for you.
What this MCP server does
You type a request in your AI chat, like asking for a client's details or asking to approve a loan. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to your Mifos X or Fineract system using its normal connection, the same one the banking website uses. The system sends the answer or confirms the change, and the helper hands it back to your AI. You then see the result in the chat, as a list, a summary or a short confirmation.

What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat: client details, account lists, loan or savings summaries, and short confirmations when something has been created or changed. Reports and documents come back as readable text or structured data you can copy. When the helper makes a change, it tells you what it did and which record it touched.
Before you start
What you need
- Access to a Mifos X or Apache Fineract system (a web address and login)
- An API token for that system (a kind of password for apps, usually created by your administrator)
- The tenant name for your system, if it uses one
- One of the supported runtimes installed, such as Go, Rust, Java or Python, depending on which version you pick
Good to know
This helper can create and change real records in your banking system, including loans, savings and client details, so treat its actions as real and check before approving anything that moves money.
