Tariff Resolver MCP server
by opsloft
Look up US import duty rates and landed costs from official tariff data, right inside your AI chat.

Tariff Resolver is a helper that lets your AI assistant research US import duties for you. You describe a product or give an HTS code, and it pulls real numbers from the official US tariff schedule. It is handy for anyone who imports goods, quotes landed costs, or just wants to know what a shipment might cost in duty.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot look up live data or do a calculation it was not trained on. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect once, and it gives your AI a new skill. Here, that skill is US import duty research: your AI asks this helper, the helper reads the official tariff data on your computer, and your AI explains the answer back to you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "what is the duty on a cotton t-shirt from China?" Your AI sends that question to this helper. The helper searches a bundled copy of the official US tariff schedule, finds matching HTS codes and any extra duty layers, and works out the fee components. Then your AI shows you the candidates, the rates, and the estimated landed cost in the chat. You can also ask it to watch certain codes and tell you when rates change between tariff revisions.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Find HTS code candidates from a plain product description
- Calculate a full duty scenario for a code, origin country, and value
- Compare landed cost between two sourcing countries
- See Chapter 99 extra duties like Section 301 and IEEPA
- Add HTS codes to a local watchlist
- Check which rates changed between tariff revisions
- See the data revision date and source
Try asking your AI
- “Find the HTS code for a men's 100% cotton t-shirt.”
- “Calculate the tariff scenario for HTS 6109.10.00, origin China, customs value $5,000, ocean freight.”
- “I'm importing $10k of stainless steel vacuum flasks. Compare landed cost if I source from China vs Vietnam.”
- “Watch tariff changes for my catalog: 6109.10.00, 8507.60.00, 9617.00.10.”
What it gives back to you
You get back lists of HTS code candidates with their rates, or a structured breakdown of a duty scenario: the base rate, any extra Chapter 99 layers, and the MPF and HMF fees. It also flags layers that may have expired and includes the date of the tariff data it used. Your AI then explains all of this in normal words in the chat.
