pmpt is a small tool that helps you plan a project with your AI, save a snapshot every time you make progress, and share the whole journey online. It comes with a built-in MCP server, which means your AI assistant can do this work for you instead of you typing commands. It is handy for anyone building something with AI, even if you do not write code yourself.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another app. Here, that helper is pmpt, and it connects your AI to your project folder and to pmptwiki.com. So when you ask your AI to save your progress or check your project status, it can actually do it for you.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like save my progress or check my project. The AI uses the pmpt helper that is already installed on your computer. The helper reads or writes files in your project folder, keeping a plan, notes and a version history. Then it tells you back what it did, in plain words, right inside the chat.

What you can do with it

  • Answer five planning questions and get a ready-to-use AI prompt
  • Save a snapshot of your project with a short summary
  • Check your project status, tracked files and quality score
  • Look at your version history and compare two versions
  • Record important decisions and their reasons
  • Check off finished features and add progress notes
  • Publish your project to pmptwiki.com so others can see it

Try asking your AI

  • “Help me plan a new project. Ask me the five planning questions.”
  • “Save a snapshot of my project and write a short summary of what changed.”
  • “What is my project status? Show me tracked files and my quality score.”
  • “Show me the history of my project and compare version 2 with version 3.”
  • “Check my quality score and tell me if I am ready to publish.”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in plain words inside the chat, like a short summary of what was saved, a list of tracked files, or your quality score. It can also show your version history as a list, and a comparison between two versions. When you publish, it tells you whether it worked. Nothing is hidden, you see the result of every action.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js 18 or newer installed on your computer
  • The pmpt tool installed (npm install -g pmpt-cli)
  • An AI tool that supports MCP, like Claude Code or Cursor
  • A GitHub account if you want to publish to pmptwiki

Good to know

It can save, change and publish your project files, so be careful when asking it to publish or edit your plan, and check what it says it did.

Install it with your AI
