Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Edit my podcast episode”, the Barevalue MCP server works in steps: send your audio, then AI edits it, then makes extras, and you get back edited episode and extras.

This is a helper for your AI that connects it to Barevalue, an online podcast editing service. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to send a recording off for editing and then check on it later, without leaving the chat. It is handy for podcasters and anyone who records audio and does not want to edit it by hand.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This helper connects your AI to Barevalue, the podcast editing service. So when you ask your AI to edit an episode, it can actually send the file to Barevalue and bring the results back to you.

What this MCP server does

You tell your AI which audio file to work with, either a file on your computer or a web link. Your AI uses this helper to upload the file to Barevalue and place an editing order. Barevalue then removes filler words, long pauses and false starts, and creates a transcript, show notes and social clips. Your AI can check the order status and hand you the download links when everything is ready.

What you can do with it

  • Upload a podcast recording from your computer
  • Submit an episode for AI editing
  • Check the status of an editing order
  • List your recent orders
  • Estimate the cost of an order before you submit
  • Check a web link before submitting it
  • Set up webhooks so you get notified when an order finishes

Try asking your AI

  • “Upload and edit my podcast episode at /Users/me/recording.mp3”
  • “Edit this podcast: https://example.com/episode.mp3”
  • “What's the status of my recent orders?”
  • “How many minutes do I have left on my account?”

What it gives back to you

You get back plain answers in the chat, like your remaining minutes, the status of an order, or a list of your recent orders. When an order is done, you get download links for the edited audio, the transcript, the show notes and the social clips. If something goes wrong, you get a short error message explaining what happened.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Barevalue account (the Basic plan is free)
  • A Barevalue API key (a kind of password for apps; you create one in your account settings)
  • The Claude desktop app or another tool that supports MCP servers
  • Node.js installed on your computer if you use the npx option

Good to know

Submitting an order uses up your subscription minutes, so check your balance first if you are not sure.
