CNEquity MCP server

by rootSunc

Ask your AI questions about Chinese A-share stocks, financial reports and market data from your own local dataset.

CNEquity is a tool that builds a local collection of Chinese stock market data on your own computer. It gathers daily prices, company financial reports, fund flows, corporate events and futures and options data into files you keep. It is handy for people who study the Chinese A-share market, run backtests, or want their AI assistant to answer questions using real numbers instead of guessing.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It has no way to look up a stock price or read a financial report. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. Here, the CNEquity helper connects your AI to the data you already collected on your computer, so the AI can look up prices, reports and events there when you ask, without sending anything to the internet.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question in normal words, like the highest closing price of a stock in the last 30 trading days. The AI uses this helper, which reads the CNEquity data stored on your own machine. The helper runs a safe, read-only search against that data and sends the result back. The AI then shows you the answer in the chat, as a short table or a sentence. Nothing in your dataset is changed, added or deleted.

What you can do with it

  • Look up daily closing prices for a stock over a date range
  • Check a company's financial statement figures
  • See fund flow and northbound money data
  • List corporate events like dividends and share changes
  • Find futures and options contract data
  • Compare valuation measures across several stocks
  • Run a simple SQL query against the dataset

Try asking your AI

  • “What was the highest close price of 600519.SH in the last 30 trading days and on which day?”
  • “Show me the latest financial statement figures for 000001.SZ”
  • “List the corporate actions for 300750.SZ in 2024”
  • “Which 10 stocks had the biggest fund inflow last week?”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, usually as a small table or a short summary. For example, a price question comes back as a list of dates and closing prices, or a single sentence naming the day and the price. A SQL query returns a table with the rows you asked for. The helper only reads; it does not change your data.

Before you start

What you need

  • Python 3.10 or newer on your computer
  • The cnequity package installed (pip install cnequity)
  • A CNEquity dataset on disk, which you build once with the cne init command
  • An AI app that supports MCP, like Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code

Good to know

The helper can only read your local dataset, so it will not change or delete your data, but it will happily run whatever SQL query the AI writes and show you the rows, so review the answers before you trust them for real decisions.

Install it with your AI

Add CNEquity MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check CNEquity MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
