Thales CipherTrust CRDP MCP server
by sanyambassi
Lets your AI protect or reveal sensitive data through a Thales CipherTrust CRDP service.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to a Thales CipherTrust data protection service called CRDP. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to hide or unhide sensitive pieces of information, like an email address or a social security number. It is meant for people whose company already runs this Thales service and who want to use it from a chat window instead of a separate tool.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another system. This one connects your AI to a Thales CipherTrust CRDP service, so the AI can send data there to be protected or ask it to reveal data you are allowed to see. You still ask in normal words, and the helper does the technical talking in the background.
What this MCP server does
You type a request, like asking your AI to protect an email address using a certain policy. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper then talks to your company's CRDP service, which does the actual protecting or revealing. The result comes back to your AI, and your AI shows it to you in the chat. It can handle one item at a time or a whole batch, and it can also check whether the service is healthy.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Protect a single piece of sensitive data using a policy name
- Protect many items at once in one batch
- Reveal one protected value if you are authorized
- Reveal several protected values in one batch
- Check the health and liveness of the CRDP service
- Read service metrics
Try asking your AI
- “Protect my email address john.doe@example.com using the email_policy”
- “Protect these three customer emails in one go using the email_policy”
- “Reveal the protected data abc123def456 for user admin using protection policy ssn_policy”
- “Check the health of my CRDP service”
What it gives back to you
You get back short answers in the chat, like the protected value, or the revealed original value if you are allowed to see it. When a policy uses versioning, the answer also includes a version number. Health and metrics checks come back as simple status messages or numbers. Nothing is stored on your computer by this helper.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js version 18 or newer and npm (npm comes with Node.js)
- TypeScript installed globally (npm install -g typescript)
- A CRDP container running and registered with your CipherTrust Manager
- For reveal actions, a username or a JWT token (a kind of digital pass) depending on how your service is set up
Good to know
Reveal actions show the original sensitive data, so only use them when you are allowed to see it, and remember that reveal needs a username or a JWT token.
