ShipStatic MCP server

by shipstatic

Put a website online from your AI chat and get back a real link you can share.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Put my website online and give me the link”, the ShipStatic MCP server connects it to ShipStatic, and you get back A live link you can share.

ShipStatic is a helper that lets your AI assistant publish a website for you. You point it at a folder of files, or paste the files in, and it puts them online and hands you a link. It is handy if you make simple pages, landing pages, or quick prototypes and want them live without learning a hosting tool.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot put a file on the internet or give you a web address. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill, and here that skill is publishing a site to ShipStatic. Once it is connected, you ask in plain words and the AI does the publishing for you.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI to put your site online. The AI passes your files to this helper. The helper sends them to ShipStatic, which puts them on the web. A moment later you get back two links in the chat: the live site, and a claim link. The site stays up for 3 days, and opening the claim link keeps it forever with a free account.

What you can do with it

  • Publish a folder of files and get a live web address
  • Add a password so only people you tell can see the site
  • List the sites you have published, with their links and status
  • Connect your own domain name to a site
  • Get the DNS records you need to set up at your domain provider
  • Check whether a domain is set up correctly
  • Delete a site you no longer want

Try asking your AI

  • “Put my site online”
  • “Publish the folder at /Users/me/my-landing-page and give me the link”
  • “Make a password protected version of this page”
  • “Show me everything I have deployed this month”
  • “Connect my domain example.com to my latest site”

What it gives back to you

You get back a short answer with the live URL of your site and a claim link. If you ask for a list, you get your sites with their links, status, and labels. For domains, you get the records you need to copy into your domain provider. It is all plain text in the chat, no files to download.

Before you start

What you need

  • Nothing at all for the hosted version at https://mcp.shipstatic.com
  • For the local version: Node.js 20.19 or newer
  • Optional: a free ShipStatic API key from my.shipstatic.com/api-key if you want sites to stay in your account and never expire

Good to know

It can delete sites and domain connections for good, and anything you publish is on the public web unless you add a password.
