CodeEraser MCP server
by skymanbp
Lets your AI check a code project for repeated code, dead code and messy files, and clean it up with a log.
CodeEraser is a helper that watches over a code project and keeps it tidy. It spots code that was written twice, files that got too long, and parts that nobody uses anymore. It is handy for developers and anyone who asks an AI to write code and wants to keep the result clean.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another tool. This one connects your AI to CodeEraser, a program that inspects and cleans up code projects. Once it is connected, your AI can ask CodeEraser to look at your project and tell you what is messy, or even remove the mess for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like check my project for repeated code. Your AI passes that request to CodeEraser through this helper. CodeEraser reads the files in your project and runs its own checks, without asking any AI to guess. It then sends back a report, or a plan for what to erase, and your AI shows it to you in the chat. If you approve, CodeEraser can carry out the cleanup and keep a log of everything it removed.
What you can do with it
- Scan a project for repeated code blocks and near-duplicates
- Find files that are too long or too complex
- Spot code that is never used and could be removed
- Check documentation for repeated paragraphs
- See which files change the most over time
- Get a plan for erasing dead code before anything is deleted
- Read the log of past erasures
Try asking your AI
- “Check my project for duplicated code and tell me where it is”
- “Which files in this project are too long or too complex?”
- “Find dead code in my project and show me a plan to remove it”
- “Show me the log of everything CodeEraser has erased so far”
What it gives back to you
You get back plain reports in the chat: lists of duplicated code blocks with the file and line numbers, files that break your size limits, unused functions, and a score for your project. It can also give you a step by step plan for cleaning things up, and a log of what was removed. Everything is written in normal words, not code.
Before you start
What you need
- A code project on your computer
- CodeEraser installed (the installer or Homebrew package sets up the ce and ce-core programs)
- The Claude Code plugin added, or the ce mcp command run so your AI can reach it
Good to know
The erase action can delete code from your project, so always read the plan first and keep a backup or use version control.
Install it with your AI
Add CodeEraser MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check CodeEraser MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Developers and anyone who uses an AI to write code and wants to keep the project small, clean and free of repeated or unused code.
