SpicyAPI MCP server
by spicyapi-ai · official
Let your AI browse 200+ image, video, audio and chat models, get exact prices, and make media for you.
This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to SpicyAPI, a service with more than 200 AI models for images, video, audio and text. Once it is set up, you can ask your assistant in normal words to make a video from a photo or generate a picture, and it handles the steps for you. It is handy for anyone who wants to create media with AI without learning a new website or tool.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to SpicyAPI, so it can look up models, check prices, upload your files and start generation tasks for you. You just ask, and the AI uses this helper behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI for something, like a five-second video from a photo. The AI uses this helper to search the SpicyAPI catalog and pick a suitable model. The helper uploads your file if needed and gets an exact price in US dollars. Then it stops and asks you to confirm before anything is charged. After you say yes, it starts the task, waits for it to finish, and gives you a link to the result.
What you can do with it
- Browse and compare 200+ image, video, audio and chat models
- Get an exact price quote before you spend anything
- Upload a local file from your computer to use as input
- Create a generation task and collect the result link
- Check your account balance and see what you spent this week
- Save results to your asset library and reuse them later
- See your past tasks and why any of them failed
Try asking your AI
- “Use SpicyAPI to list the image models I can call, pick an inexpensive one, generate a cinematic night portrait, and give me the result link when it finishes.”
- “How much SpicyAPI balance do I have, and what did I spend this week?”
- “Find SpicyAPI models that turn an image into a video and compare what a 5-second clip costs on each.”
- “Turn my file portrait.jpg into a 5-second video with a slow push-in.”
What it gives back to you
You get back answers in your chat: lists of models with prices, your balance and spending numbers, and links to finished images, videos or audio. When a task is done, the AI shows you a link you can open or download. It also tells you if something failed and why.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 22.13 or later (npx comes with it)
- A SpicyAPI API key (a kind of password for apps; you create one free on the SpicyAPI website)
- Funds on your SpicyAPI account for paid tasks (browsing and quoting are free)
- An MCP client like Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code or Gemini CLI
Good to know
Creating or retrying a task costs money, so always read the price quote and confirm only when you are ready; some tools can also delete saved assets or task content for good.
Install it with your AI
Add SpicyAPI MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check SpicyAPI MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who wants to create images, video or audio with AI using everyday language, especially office workers, marketers, designers and content creators.
