Media Gen MCP server
by strato-space
Create and edit images and videos with OpenAI and Google tools, right from your AI chat.

Media Gen MCP is a helper that lets your AI make pictures and short videos for you. You describe what you want, and it uses OpenAI's image and video models, or Google's video model, to create it. It is handy if you make slides, social posts, or quick visuals and do not want to jump between apps.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat and write text. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your AI to OpenAI's image and video tools and to Google's video tool. So when you ask for a picture or a video, your AI can actually go and make it for you.
What this MCP server does
You type a request, like asking for a picture of a cat in a hat. Your AI sends that request to this helper. The helper talks to OpenAI or Google, which does the actual creating. The finished image or video comes back into your chat, or gets saved as a file you can open. You can also ask it to edit a picture you already have, or grab an image from a web link.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Create a new image from a text description
- Edit or combine up to 16 images at once
- Make short videos with OpenAI's Sora models
- Make short videos with Google's Veo model
- Download a video or its thumbnail to your computer
- Fetch and shrink an image from a web address
- Check how different AI apps display images
What it gives back to you
You get the finished image or video back in the chat, or a link to a file saved on your computer. For videos, you often get a job you can check on later, plus the file when it is ready. Sometimes it also gives you a short text note about what it did or any error.
Before you start
What you need
- An OpenAI API key (a kind of password for apps; you get one from your OpenAI account)
- A Google API key if you want to use Google's video tool
- Node.js installed on your computer to run the helper
Good to know
Making images and videos uses paid services, so each request can cost money on your OpenAI or Google account.
