Supabase MCP server
by supabase-community · official
Lets your AI look at and manage your Supabase project: tables, settings and data.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to your Supabase project. Supabase is a service that stores your app's data in tables, a bit like a very organised online spreadsheet. If you already use Supabase and want your AI to help you look things up or make changes there, this is for you.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. It cannot see your Supabase project or touch anything in it. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app, and this one connects it to Supabase. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI things about your project and it will go and check for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about your Supabase project, like what tables you have or how many rows are in one of them. The AI passes your request to this helper. The helper talks to Supabase using your login, so it only sees the projects you have access to. Then it brings the answer back and the AI explains it to you in the chat. If you ask it to change something, it can do that too, as long as you have allowed it.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- List the tables in your Supabase project
- Look up the settings and details of your project
- Run a query to fetch data from your tables
- Create or change a table for you
- Check what your project is set up to do
- Read the Supabase documentation to answer questions about how things work
Try asking your AI
- “What tables do I have in my Supabase project?”
- “Show me the last 10 rows from my customers table.”
- “Can you add a column called notes to my orders table?”
- “How many users signed up this month in my database?”
What it gives back to you
You get answers written in plain language in the chat, based on what is really in your project. If you asked for data, it usually comes back as a small table or a list. If you asked it to change something, it tells you what it changed. It may also show you the raw result if that is easier to read.
Before you start
What you need
- A Supabase account with at least one project
- An AI assistant that supports MCP, like Cursor, Claude or Windsurf
- Permission to access the project you want to work with
Good to know
This helper can change or delete things in your Supabase project, so be careful with requests that modify data and check before you say yes.
Install it with your AI
Add Supabase MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Supabase MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who already use Supabase and want their AI to help them look at or manage their project without clicking around the dashboard.
