Ghostlight MCP server

by sylin-org

Let your AI open pages, fill forms, and click around in your own signed-in browser, in a tab group you can watch.

Ghostlight is a helper that lets your AI work inside the browser you already use, with your logins already in place. It opens a special sky-blue tab group so you can watch every step, pause it, or take over. It is handy if you want an assistant to handle web chores without setting up a fresh, empty browser.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to your own Chromium browser, so it can open pages, read them, and do things there when you ask. The work happens in a visible tab group on your machine, not on someone else's computer.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI to do something in the browser, like read a page or fill in a form. Your AI passes that request to Ghostlight, which carries out the browser steps in a sky-blue tab group inside the browser window you chose. It can move between tabs, wait for pages to load, upload files, and answer popups. After each action it tells you plainly what happened, what changed, and whether it is safe to run again. If something goes wrong, it suggests a next step instead of guessing.

What you can do with it

  • Open a web page in a new Ghostlight tab and summarize it
  • Fill in a form and submit it while you watch
  • Upload a file to a website
  • Click buttons and links by meaning, not by guessing coordinates
  • Take a screenshot of a page
  • Follow a popup or a new tab that opens during a task
  • Check what failed by looking at page state, console messages, and network requests

Try asking your AI

  • “Open example.com in a new Ghostlight tab, summarize the page, and tell me which tab you used. Do not click or type anything.”
  • “Go to our supplier portal, log in using the session that is already open, and download last month's invoice as a PDF.”
  • “Fill in the contact form on this page with my name and email, then stop before submitting so I can check it.”
  • “Something went wrong on the checkout page earlier. Open it again and tell me what the console and network errors say.”

What it gives back to you

You get a short, plain answer in the chat: what it did, what changed on the page, and whether it is safe to repeat. It can also give you page summaries, screenshots, and lists of elements it found. When something is uncertain, it says so instead of pretending. It never writes its answer using the page's own words, so you can trust the description.

Before you start

What you need

  • Chrome, Edge, Brave, or Chromium version 125 or newer
  • An MCP client like Claude Desktop, Cursor, or VS Code
  • Node.js for the installer (the browser helper itself is a native program)
  • The Ghostlight in Browser extension from the Chrome Web Store

Good to know

It can click, type, and submit forms in your real browser, so only give it tasks you are comfortable watching it do.

Install it with your AI

Add Ghostlight MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Ghostlight MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
