textbee SMS MCP server
by textbee
Let your AI send and read SMS through your own Android phone using textbee.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to textbee, an open source SMS gateway that turns an Android phone into a texting service. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to send a text or check what came in, and it uses your own phone and your own number to do it. It is handy if you already use textbee and want to handle texts without opening the dashboard.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to textbee, your SMS gateway, so it can send texts and read messages on your behalf. You just ask in plain words, and the helper does the back and forth with textbee for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like send a text to this number, or show me the messages from today. The AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to textbee using your API key, and textbee sends the message through your paired Android phone. For reading, the helper asks textbee for your messages and hands them back to the AI. Then the AI shows you the result in the chat, like a confirmation or a list of texts.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Send an SMS to one or more phone numbers
- Schedule a text to go out later
- Read received messages, newest first
- Search your messages by keyword
- Check delivery status for a batch you sent
- See which phones are connected to your account
Try asking your AI
- “Send a text to +15550100123 saying my appointment is confirmed for tomorrow at 10”
- “Show me the messages I received today”
- “Search my texts for the word invoice”
- “Which devices are connected to my textbee account?”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat: a confirmation that a text was sent, a list of messages with sender and time, or details about your devices. When you send a batch, you can ask for the delivery status per recipient. It is all shown as text in the conversation, so you can read it right there.
Before you start
What you need
- A textbee account with a paired Android phone
- An API key from the textbee dashboard (treat it like a password)
- Node.js installed on your computer if you use the npx command
Good to know
Your API key has full access to your textbee account, and sending texts uses up your plan quota, so keep the key private and mind your limits.
