Statement of Account MCP server
Your AI can build client statements of account, age what is owed, and draft payment chasers.
This is a helper for your AI that turns the invoices, credit notes and deposits you already keep into a proper statement of account for a client. It shows the opening balance, every invoice, payment and credit note in date order, and the closing balance. It is handy if you send invoices and chase payments, and you want a clear picture of who owes you what.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to your invoice, credit note and deposit records, so it can look things up and build statements for you when you ask. It runs on your own machine and reads your files, and it never writes anything back to them.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI for a statement for a client and a period. Your AI passes that request to this helper. The helper reads your invoice ledger, your credit notes and your deposits from your computer, works out the opening balance, lists every movement in date order, and calculates the closing balance. It can also age what is still unpaid into 0-30, 31-60, 61-90 and 90+ day buckets as at any date you choose. Then it hands the result back to your AI, which shows it to you as text, a table, or a PDF.
What you can do with it
- Build a statement of account for one client and a chosen period
- Age outstanding invoices into 0-30, 31-60, 61-90 and 90+ day buckets as at any date
- Get the same statement as plain text you can paste into an email
- Get the statement as an A4 PDF that looks like your invoices
- Draft a payment chaser at a friendly, firm or final level
- See every client at once with what is outstanding per currency and the oldest overdue invoice
- Check which of your ledgers the server could read and how many rows each holds
Try asking your AI
- “Build a statement of account for Acme Ltd for May 2026”
- “Show me what Acme Ltd owes as at 10 June 2026, aged into 0-30, 31-60, 61-90 and 90+ days”
- “Give me that statement as plain text I can paste into an email”
- “Draft a firm payment chaser for Acme Ltd”
- “Show me all clients with anything overdue and the oldest overdue invoice in the book”
What it gives back to you
You get back a clear statement: the opening balance, every invoice, payment and credit note in date order, and the closing balance. For aging, you get the outstanding amounts split into 0-30, 31-60, 61-90 and 90+ day buckets, per currency. You can also get a plain text version ready to paste, an A4 PDF, or a drafted chaser at the tone you chose. Everything appears in your chat, and nothing is changed in your original records.
Before you start
What you need
- The Claude desktop app, Claude Code, Cursor, or another MCP client
- Your invoice ledger file (invoices.json) from the mcp-invoice server, since the statement cannot be built without it
- Optionally, your credit notes file (credit-notes.json) and deposits file (deposits.json) if you use those servers
Good to know
It only reads your records and never writes back, but it does read your private invoice, credit note and deposit files, so make sure you are comfortable with that.
