Multi-Database MCP server

by TheRaLabs

Lets your AI look inside your databases, find tables and run queries for you in plain English.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “How many new users signed up last month?”, on your own computer the Multi-Database MCP server works with your own database, and you get back your answer in the chat.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to your databases. It works with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, BigQuery, Oracle, SQLite and a few others. It is handy if you often need answers from data but do not want to write SQL yourself.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another app. This one connects your AI to your databases, so it can look up tables, check columns and run queries when you ask. You stay in the chat, and the helper does the database work behind the scenes.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about your data, like which customers signed up last month. The AI uses this helper to look at your database, find the right table and write a query. The helper runs that query and sends the results back. Your AI then shows you the answer in the chat, often as a neat table. You can also ask it to explain or improve a query you already have.

What you can do with it

  • List all the databases you have connected
  • Find which database holds a table you are looking for
  • Show the columns and types of any table
  • Run a SQL query and get the results as a table
  • Get a small sample of rows from a table
  • See your recent query history
  • Ask your AI to explain or improve a SQL query

Try asking your AI

  • “Which tables do I have in my PostgreSQL database?”
  • “Show me the columns of the orders table”
  • “How many new users signed up last month?”
  • “Find the table that stores customer emails”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat: lists of tables, column names and types, sample rows, or query results shown as a table. It can also return results as structured data if you need that. If you ask for an explanation or an improved query, you get text back. It does not change your data unless you run a query that does.

Before you start

What you need

  • A database you can connect to (for example PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQLite)
  • The connection details for that database: host, port, username, password and database name
  • The uv tool or Python installed on your computer to run the helper

Good to know

It can run any SQL query you or your AI write, including ones that change or delete data, so be careful with queries that modify your database.

Install it with your AI

Add Multi-Database MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
