prumo MCP server
by TomD4vs
Lets your AI check the instruction files your coding agent reads for broken links, wrong paths and stale notes.

prumo is a small checker for the instruction files your coding agent reads, like CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md and SKILL.md. It compares what those notes say against the actual files in your git repository and points out anything that no longer matches. It is handy if you keep notes for an AI coding assistant and want to know when they go stale.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something else. This one connects your AI to prumo, a checker that reads your project's notes and compares them with the real files. Once it is connected, you can ask your AI to run the check for you and explain what it found.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to check your project's instruction files. The AI calls this helper, which runs prumo inside your git repository. prumo finds the context files on its own, reads what they say and compares it with the files git actually tracks. It comes back with a list of findings, each with a file, a line number and a suggested correction, and the AI can explain them or fix the simple ones for you.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md and other context files for broken links
- Spot paths that no longer exist because a file or folder was renamed
- Find letter-case mistakes that work on Windows but fail on Linux
- See which sections of your notes describe code that has changed a lot since they were written
- Estimate how many tokens each context file costs your agent at every session
- Fix simple letter-case issues and renames that git recorded
- Run the check on just one file, like a SKILL.md
Try asking your AI
- “Run prumo on this repository and tell me what needs fixing”
- “Check my CLAUDE.md for broken links and missing paths”
- “Which sections of my AGENTS.md are most out of date?”
- “How many tokens do my context files cost at every session?”
What it gives back to you
You get a list of findings in the chat, each with the file name, the line number, what the note says and what the repository actually has. For missing paths, it also shows where git moved the file if the history recorded a rename. The two reports come back as lists too, one ordered by how much the code has changed and one with token estimates and repeated paragraphs. Nothing is changed unless you ask for the fix.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 18 or newer
- git installed, and you run it inside a git repository
Good to know
The fix tool can rewrite parts of your context files, so check what it changed before you commit.
Install it with your AI
Add prumo MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check prumo MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who keep instruction files for AI coding assistants and want to know when those notes drift away from the code.
